Hi everyone! It's your friendly forum administrator here, welcoming you to the world of structured discussion.
As many of us are probably students or alumni, I'm sure we all understand what it is to make a structured argument. It's just like all of those papers we had to write, all of those discussions we took part in, all of those discussions we have with our friends and family. With that in mind, then, it shouldn't be hard to understand how to format your topic here.
Once you know which category your discussion belongs in, start by stating clearly in the subject box what it is you specifically want to discuss. Is it a particular author? Is it a particular book? Is it a particular theme you've noticed in a series of works, a pattern an author follows? Once you've made it clear to the other forum members what it is you're talking about, make your first post much like you would an introduction to a paper. In other words, state in a more complete way what it is you're talking about/observing/disputing/etc.
From there, it's up to you. Add discussion questions to the end of your first post. Throw in some references. Come back and add a second post if you see more that you could add on.
Most of all, though, if and when your discussion gets rolling, please remember we're here to discuss and have fun and exchange opinions. Let's never be mean.
